Born and raised in New Orleans, LA, Jody trained at Loyola University New Orleans where he received his Bachelor's degree before moving to New York City to finish his Master's degree at Manhattan School of Music.​ While in school, Jody performed with the New Orleans Opera Association, Loyola Opera, and MSM Opera.

Since then, Jody has been seen in various productions, concerts, and cabarets in New York City, regionally across the United States, and sailing across Europe.​
